In 2001, FBHC acquired the 3 multifamily residential Mt Sharon properties which consist of 106 units.  At that time FBHC took out loans for minor repairs needed to bring the buildings to code and provide repairs in vacant apartments.

 

Up until the receipt of construction funds in June 2014, the properties were only able to receive

improvements through the NYS Weatherization Assistance Program which included new windows, roof repair and insulation, cool roof coating, and 90% thoroseal. The buildings however, remained in need of a significant renovation in apartments and public areas.

 

The funds received in 2014 allowed for improvements that include: new plumbing and electrical, updated bathrooms and kitchens replacement of hardwood flooring where necessary, installation of efficient light fixtures, increased insulation by replacing windows, roofs, and sheet rock.  The construction that was essential to preserving these homes was completed in April, 2016.
